Why are hardware HDD testers more effective than software test programs?
Hardware testers, like the Rack System, communicate directly with the hard drive using raw ATA commands while software can only send commands to the hard drive through PC BIOS. Working through BIOS dramatically slows the process and limits the softwares ability to accurately test HDD characteristics. When compared to software test/diagnostic solutions, the Rack System always performs more tests in less time and provides a more accurate analysis of a hard drives status and life expectancy.
