Why are generics cheaper than regular popular branded drugs?
The same medication with the same generic ingredients is sold under different brand names in different countries, sometimes by the same multi-national company. And more importantly, at different prices, depending on the country, cost of manufacture, marketing investment, distribution and pharmacy chain margins, etc. Since the drug has to be simply manufactured, it saves quite a large amount. There are no R & D, testing, clinical trials, etc. to be done. Hence the company is able to offer the generic version at greatly reduces prices.
