Why are full pricked ears on a SBT seen as a serious fault?
Pricked ears on a SBT are seen as a cosmetic fault – nothing to do with health. Ear carriage is influenced by genetics as much as size, colour etc. but pricked ears only mean that a dog does not fulful the breed standard in that respect. As the person above states, SBTs were only recognised in 1935 when the standard would have been approved and people who were interested in showing would have only selected dogs who had an ear carriage in keeping with the standard.
