Why are Firefighters and Police against Measure V?
Firefighters and police are against Measure V because they believe it will severely affect their budgets. Each year, the City receives, on average, 10 to 15 million dollars in development fees, to fix roads, improve roads, and to build City buildings like libraries and fire stations. If this amount is lost because of no new development, Police and Firefighters are concerned that the City will have to pull money out of their budgets to offset the loss in revenue.
