Why are ethics important when carry out observations on special needs children?
Ethics is critical in relation to special needs children as they are unable to process information in the way that normal children can and therefore are open to being taken advantage of by the unscrupulous and those who do not think they have a place in society like the first answer. This is tragic. I don’t know the protocols in the country/state that you are in but in most Australian states it is necessary to get a police character clearance before working with all children. This is to eliminate the possibility of people who have been convicted of child abuse and paedophilia getting within reach of children. This site may give you some idea of the standards required for child carers in one state in Australia. http://www.community.nsw.gov.au/welcome_… A review of Australian National Standards on Childcare and Ethics
