Why are domestic partner benefits important?
Domestic partner benefits are a matter of workplace fairness and equity, providing equal pay for equal work. Providing health care benefits for the domestic partners of state employees is one step towards eliminating workplace discrimination. It is a mechanism for the state to be competitive with the private sector in attracting and retaining good employees.
