Why are Domestic Energy Assessors (DEA) needed?
The need for an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) stems from the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive which requires that all properties sold or let must have an EPC. The Diploma in Domestic Energy Assessment is a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) and is directly related to the relevant National Occupational Standards. This qualification must be achieved prior to applying to become an accredited Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA). The DEA qualification requires no prior relevant experience. The programme provides a package of all you need to achieve the Diploma. The course starts with an assessment package which includes a full introduction to the business and how to build your portfolio of evidence for qualification. Training modules are then added according to your skills.
