Why are diamonds so expensive?
The value of diamonds is artificially inflated by he corporations. The diamond itself has no intrinsic value, the majority of diamond production is ground up for use as an abrasive. The “jem quality” stones are subjected to some work to facet them and polish them but this would not justify the price. The number of diamonds reaching the market is controlled to give the impression of rarity. Recent developments in manufacturing diamonds supports a value of a few dollars a caret.
