To view diacritics correctly in the NLM Catalog, be sure that the encoding for your Web browser is set to “Unicode (UTF-8).” In addition, various NLM bibliographic records for foreign language titles include diacritic characters that sometimes cannot be correctly represented by the particular Web browser used to access the NLM Catalog. In such cases, the diacritic character appears as an empty rectangular box, as in the example below.
