Good tobacco requires an ideal climate to grow to its full potential, and Cuba is home to most of the few spots on earth that have this climate. Nicaragua, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic also have a few ideal locations. What makes cigars special is the blend of flavors. This is achieved by blending different types of tobacco leaves. This is much harder than it sounds, at least to make a masterpiece. The master blenders of the world used to live in Cuba, where there was the most high-quality tobacco.
