Why are cool mist humidifiers recommended by pediatricians?
In recent years doctors have been recommending cool mist humidifiers rather than the warm mist humidifier, due to the fact, the warm mist humidifiers use a heater to warm the water, which may have the potential of harming a child. How do I clean the Humidifier? Empty the water tank and water basin before each use and refill daily with fresh water. Disinfect the humidifier once a week, add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and one gallon of fresh water to water tank, let water tank stand ten minutes thatn shake vigorously with two hands, drain and rinse with clean water, wipe the water basin with a cloth dampened in the vinegar and water solution, rinse the water basin with cool water to remove any vinegar smell. DO NOT IMMERSE WATER BASIN IN WATER.
