Why are compound exercises so much better than isolation exercises?
Compound is always going to be better for many reasons you just said. When you lift weights, what you are basically doing is creating muscle stimulation by forcing muscle fibers to tear and then allowing them to grow back stronger. When you do compound lifts, you are stimulating far more muscles without taking away from what you are focusing on (bench press focuses on chest, but you also hit arms/back, squat focuses on quads, but you also hit hams and core, etc.). It’s a “more bang for your buck” sort of thing. There’s a reason why many people who look like Abercrombie models do so by focusing on a handful of lifts: bench press, squat, dead lift, military press, pull up. If you ask anyone who really knows what they are doing in the weight room, I’ll bet you 99 times out of 100 that these are the exercises that their routines focus on. So, more bang for your buck. More muscle stimulation. It’s really that simple.
