There are tremendous societal pressures to make DUI arrests. M.A.D.D. puts a great deal of pressure on the General Assembly, District Attorneys and Police Departments to get tough on people that drink and drive. This additional societal pressure caused steeper penalties, including higher fines and costs, added alcohol classes and longer jail sentences.
