Why are Coffee shops in amsterdam closing?

0

There are so many different rumours flying around that I for one can’t keep up with them! Coffeeshops are actually not there as a tourist attraction, but ok never mind. What SJH said about schools is correct, but this is a fraction of the amount, if I recall then this was about 43 proposed but in reality the last figure I read was about 12 to be closed for this reason.. Then there are premises in the Red Light District that are being closed also as part of a “clean-up” http://www.dutchamsterdam.nl/681-coffees… Then there are coffeeshops closing (and discussions about membership only) on the border of the Netherlands with Belgium/Germany due to so called “drug tourism”, but this is not in Amsterdam. The Amsterdam authorities have clearly stated on a number of times that they have no intention of getting rid of all coffeeshops, but do want to remove the “lout” element to Amsterdam to make it attract
