Why are Chinese Dynasties treated differently from European ones?
This is partly the reason I think. China has several lengthened periods of disunion when two, three, or more dynasties ruled different parts of the country at the same time. The only dynasty which ever controlled the entire territory of present-day PRC and ROC at one time was the Qing, which was a Manchu dynasty.
