Why are chest muscles important in swimming?

Literally (and this isn’t a literally like “i could literally eat a whole cow im so hungry!”) every muscle in your budy is used when you’re swimming. It is the best total workout for someone who doesnt have the time for muscle isolation. Split your swimming 70-30 (70% freestyle, 30% a combination of the other 3 (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke)) and you’ll have an amazing workout on your hands. Back to your question though; in freestyle, when you pull down through the water, much of that pull is your chest muscles (pectorals/’pecs’). Same with backstroke, just reversed. And like 80% of your pull for fly and breast (hence the name) are from your pecs.
