Why are cells, evolution, and gravity just theories and not facts? ?
A theory is the ultimate explanation in science. There is no proving of anything in science. So, evolution is not a theory because it isn’t proven. It is a theory because that is the culmination of all the scientific thought and data we have. Theories are the result of and incorporate many facts and tested hypotheses. So, there are evolutionary facts, cellular facts, and gravity facts. It is a fact (a confirmed observation) that allele frequencies change, which is evolution. But, evolutionary theory is beyond just some facts, A fact can’t explain the how. The theory explains how using the facts as supporting evidence. This is the same with gravitational theory and cell theory. On the scale of 1-10 of how important, substantial, useful things are, a fact might be a 2 and a theory would be a 10.
