Why are cat people usually more intelligent than dog people?
Well, there may be some observational bias in your perception: i.e. you see cats as smarter, so you see cat people as smarter, even if they aren’t. However, if it is a bias, I have the same bias. *grin* I would theorize that because cats are very independent, they are more likely to challenge their people with their unpredictability. Intelligent people are more likely to accept unpredictability and appreciate an animal that doesn’t kowtow to them. OTOH, dogs tend to be subservient to their people and are more likely to appeal to people who want a pet that will do what they are told to do. In addition, there are some dogs who are adopted because of a certain aura of danger or “toughness” – such dogs will appeal to a certain segment of the population that is more about image than true affection.
