Why are British people coming out to work on this project? Shouldn’t the work be done by Sri Lankan people?

Most of the people working on this project are Sri Lankan. The roles of engineers, construction managers, electricians, plumbers, logisticians and accountants are held by Sri Lankan people. British workers, including skilled staff such as carpenters, masons, roofers and a gardener travelled to Sri Lanka to contribute to the existing team’s knowledge and to work together for the benefit of the community. British tourists who were in Sri Lanka at the time of the tsunami, and for whom the country holds a special place in their heart, returned to offer their assistance on the project. There was a great sense of solidarity as the Sri Lankans worked alongside the Challenge Anneka team.
