The difference in cost is for advertising and endorsement payments along with contingency money. Yes they are different then the spin offs in most cases. You might be just as happy with the spin offs, but maybe you would not be happy with the Borla either. Who knows till you hear them on your car? Two hints: 1 Find a Sig of Forum for your car and see if any one has tried them. 2 Go to you-tube and search for the exhaust systems for your car. Many of these have sound and a contact name to find out how happy the owner is now with the product. Good hunting!
