They focus on reducing sugar as a marketing ploy. The food nazis claim that the cereals are made with excess sugar, and this is bad for people. While eating too much sugar (or anything) is bad for one’s health, occasionally eating these cereals won’t harm a healthy person. However, because some people can’t take responsibility for their own well-being (or that of their children) others feel it is their duty to force so-called “healthy alternatives”. Sugar does have a redeeming quality-it makes foods sweet. It doesn’t necessarily have a nutritional value, other than adding calories from carbohydrates. This does not make it bad. Irresponsible consumption is bad. The food companies are not responsible for obesity. No one forces anyone to purchase or consume foods which are not in the best interest of the person consuming it.
