Why are avoiding last minute crises so important?
Our concern with helping the students avoid last minute work crises may seem unusual. Last any other assignment, work done at the last minute (whether on-line or as documents) are prone to minor mistakes as workers become rushed or careless. However, with web-design, these little mistakes might prevent entire pages from being unreadable and may take much time (and assistance from the instructors and support staff) to solve. A common example would be broken links, making it impossible to navigate through a site or view images. Another problem that has come up is overlapping frames which makes the site difficult to read in many browsers. To avoid needing to offer extensive assistance in a short window of time before evaluations begin, we found that everyone is much happier when the work is done in advance and assistance can be offered in a more relaxed environment.
