I agree with you completely. However I think there are a few factors in American fear of universal health care: 1). Lobbyist–There are 6 lobbyists for every member of Congress. By the standards of other democracies, Democrats are conservatives and the Republicans (in general) are so conservative that there is no place for them in other governments.
