Why are american car lovers jealous of import tuners?
I am not jealous of import tuners. Quite the contrary I find them hilarious. That is not to say I dislike them, it just is not my thing and I think the money spent is way over the top. But if that’s your thing what does my opinion matter. What I don’t like and I think I am not alone is the import tuner that races and weaves through traffic placing everyone in danger because they want to live out a Grand Tourismo fantasy. Save it for the track. If you can’t afford to pay the track fee then ride a bus. Now what I find very hilarious is the guy that rips out his interior to shave some unwanted pounds but he is 5’3″ and tipping the 250+ pound mark. Hell he could get some 105+ fuel and shave some pounds by not pulling into BK or Micky D’s. And 1000 BHP means nothing if you don’t have the torque to put it on the road. There is a delicate balance between HP, torque, tire width, and weight. And the people who race formula 1 know that.
I don’t think they are really jealous of us (i am a tuner lover) I don’t think i’ve ever heard of them being jealous, we get called dumb more than anything. They do tend to dislike us though because there are more import sales than domestic and a lot of people have come to conclude that cars like Honda’s are reliable, something not many people say about American car companies. Muscle cars aren’t built like they used to be anymore though, tuner cars are evolving on the other hand and getting more and more power and reliability year after year. Some American car lovers are jealous/angry though, i mean anyone would be if your were driving a powerful american car and a Honda Civic left you in its dust. The older American cars were better, there’s a guy around my area who has a ’69 Camaro SS (MINT condition!). I’d trade 3 of my tuners for his car! I love american cars too, so i’m not just a tuner lover, if i could afford a Saleen Mustang, or Dodge Charger SRT8….i’d buy one!
