Age twenty-five is when normal werewolves reach their alpha dominance maturity (ADM), this their systems receive a surge of aggression hormone. It is during this time that a young werewolf can compete for pack dominance—but this genetically timed hormonal surge wreaks havoc on the human system. PCU scientists have yet to be able to develop strong enough transformation control drugs to get a human test subject through this phase without lethal consequences. Hence test subjects must be “put down” when they flip out during their first ADM surge.
