Why ancient indian civilization left the greatest impact on the modern world?
The Arabic numeral that we use in the West was really invented by Indians and that the Indians used these numerals for a while and then went back to their previous system. The concept of the zero as a number was also believed to come from ancient India. India of course brought Buddhism to the world and greatly influenced Asia through Buddhism. Buddhism brought about the necessity to read and write in order to read the Sutras. India also influenced sculpture and painting in Asia. The may have brought about the concept of the mosastary to Asia. The Chinese developed the use of silk which was highly valued in the world. They developed movable type and an early printing press as well as gunpowder. The West developed all of these things independent of China. The Chinese greatly influenced Asia with their alphabet, painting, poetry, Taoism, ceramics, fashion, the use of chop sticks, sculpture, warfare, philosophy, etiquette, etc. Their impact on the West was minimal since they were so isolat
