Why am I required to take art or theater appreciation as a math major?
That is a pretty common requirment. Every single college I know of (and I have worked at and with many) all have something along these lines. Usually you are required to something that is either Music Art or Drama. Never know it to be a requirement for a major but always a requirement to graduate (which in the end is the same thing). But usually it is an easy A, so just suck it up we all had to.
