Why all two-way streets east of Second Street?
Two-way circulation along First Street and the east-west streets between First and Second Street will provide continuous access to the park and First Street businesses. Traffic on these streets will proceed along 12-foot-wide travel lanes. These somewhat narrow lanes, combined with other traffic-calming measures and angled parking, will actually help to slow traffic throughout the area. When portions of First Street are closed for special events, two-way traffic will allow drivers to move around the blocks at the north and south ends of the closed street. In addition, signs will inform drivers of the closure.
