Why all the jewelry stores in the Caribbean?

0

I personally believe there are good buys in the Caribbean if one is reasonably knowledgable about what they are buying. I recently bought a small gold chain in St. Thomas for $75. I compared prices in numerous stores before I purchased it. I was looking for a similar chain at home in the US and a comparable one was $110. The lack of sales tax is helpful also. I wouldn’t buy a very expensive piece as you can’t just return it if there is an issue, but I enjoy buying jewelry momentos when I’m on vacation. I just don’t pay attention to all the cruiseship sales talks-it’s pretty obvious which stores they have a major interest in. Shop around.
