And with the same old argument that scientists take evolution on faith! Not so at all, I’m afraid. There is plenty of empirical evidence for evolution, and the theory is accepted because of overwhelming mountains of evidence – not taken on faith at all. What you regard as a weakness of science is indeed its strength: it is precisely because we are willing to be ‘shaken’ by new evidence that we are confident about the reality of evolution. Indeed, the very method of science (and this is the opposite of faith) is to go looking for exactly the kinds of evidence that will shake our theories. And when our best efforts to shake such a theory fail, we have to, however grudgingly, accept the validity of the theory. Not quake in our boots that our faith was misplaced.
