They truly started the company by one patient at a time. The industry started to change in the early 1990s. Nursing homes started to use less agencies for staffing. Steve’s brother Mark joined the company to start the Medicaid Home Care department. Shortly after, Steve’s sister Anne joined the group to start the Medicare Home Health department. During that time of change, the industry was rotating towards Private Support Care. (Private Pay) This was another source to provide services. The name Algonquin was chosen because it represents quality services as in the famous Algonquin Hotel in New York City. For many years the Algonquin Hotel was the standard for style and service.
