Why Africans did not have an empire like The UK,US ,Rome and Chinese and Muslims(Ottomans) ?
There were a number of empires in Africa: Aksum Ghana Mali Songhai Luba Lunda Kongo Nubia Ethiopia (Abyssinia) Great Zimbabwe Mutapa In addition, the New Kingdom period in ancient Egypt is sometimes referred to as the Egyptian Empire. I contend that the civilization of Great Zimbabwe more than qualifies as an advanced, enduring sub-Saharan empire. The ruins have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the city was home to some 18,000 inhabitants at its height. Such a large population implies a cohesive social and political structure. According to the Global Heritage Fund site, “The city’s rulers probably dominated a realm that stretched across eastern Zimbabwe into Botswana, Mozambique and South Africa.” This city endured some 400+ years under a central ruler between the 11th and 15th centuries and was the center of an empire that traded as far as Syria, Persia and China.
