Before you decide to BUY a dog, consider this…There are millions of abandoned and abused dogs in shelters that desperately need loving homes. There are various reasons that dogs end up in shelters, and after working in a shelter for three years, I have sadly heard it all. People move, get divorced, have children and do not fully research breed behavior before making a rash decision. Owning a dog is a huge responsibility, and often, people do not actually realize it until they bring a dog home. Mysterious “allergies” arise after having a dog for 4 years. The list goes on, and often includes this excuse, “My dog had puppies, and I can’t possibly keep them all.” Irresponsible dog owners that do not spay or neuter their pets, directly contribute to overpopulation. Overpopulation is the reason for overcrowded shelters and the ridiculously high euthanization rate in the world today. If
