Why adding Wordpad or Notepad shortcut in the Send To menu?

Wordpad and Notepad are both bundled with all Windows versions, including the latest Windows Vista that I’m using now. These ASCII editors can SAFELY open and view the content of any files type – be it a pure ASCII text file, an executable program file, a video or music file, a picture or animated graphic file, a data file, Registry data file, or even a dangerous virus program file, etc. Whenever I received an unknown email attachments or unknown files downloaded from Internet, I used to right-click the file and “send” it to open with Wordpad or Notepad. I can’t tell it’s a virus file (that’s Kaspersky Antivirus program responsibility), but I’m curious to look for human readable text inside these file!
