Why AA batteries?
The choice of AA battery format was more of an accident. I simply had the most of that type around the house. Also these are manufactured in the greatest quantitiy. That means cheaper prices and better deals are found for them than any other type. As I learned later, C batteries are used for construction of battery packs. While AAs are smaller and less powerful, they are still close enough to Cs to be an effective replacement. Some power loss if likely which is fine with me. Another lesson I learned regarding rechargable batteries is that their performance is only as good as their charger. I had many dumb chargers ruin batteries. Hence I obtained a sophisticated charger LaCrosse BC-900 which can only handle AA format. Having a good charger is important to obtain maximum performance from batteries. Most of these are designed for the AA format. • Cheap, easy to find, etc. • Greate choice of capacities, types, etc. • Sophisticated chargers available While for the most part I use NiMH rech
