Why a tea company?
I was frequenting Asia, Bhutan and Darjeeling, for my work (while drinking way too much coffee), and I started spending time on the tea estates. It was the love of going to these places, connecting with the farmers, and building an understanding of the product. You take annual trips to the tea estates during the picking seasons, in the spring and fall. Indeed this is your way of following the teas entire journey, from beginning to end. Once that tea begins to steep in a customers cup, does the pursuit conclude there? Definitely not. 90% of my job is to educate. I want to help foster an appreciation for fine teas, or even just slightly better teas. Tea in this country is more of a commodity and it has always been treated as such. Whereas you look at other parts of the world and they all have daily traditions surrounding tea. Europe, the Middle East, Russia, Africa, Asia, all these places have cultures very connected to tea. Im selling something that, generally, people dont know about. T
