Why a school of botanical illustration at Brookside Gardens?
The opening of the School creates a new facet in our mission as a public garden to “encourage an appreciation for the art of gardening and science of horticulture.” Likewise, the discipline of botanical illustration combines two complimentary talents: the skill of scientific observation and botanical knowledge plus the artistic ability to capture on paper the essence of the living plant with both realism and beauty.
