Why a Gay hard dance station?
Hard House started out on the London gay scene way back in 1990 at a club called TRADE. Since then it has branched out and become a popular genre of music in gay/straight clubs across the world. HHUK was started to keep the original sound of the gay Hard Dance scene alive. Gay clubs such as FF @ Turnmills, Fist, Trade @ Turnmills, Sherbet @ Soundshaft and Blue @ Subway City (to name but a few!) were the early pioneers in playing Hard House. The genre became available to the wider clubbing scene in the late 1990s. Strawberry Sundae @ Chunnel Club, Club UK (R.I.P), The Monastery (Torquay), Sundissential (Birmingham) and Insomniacz (Sheffield) were just some of the bigger clubs who brought the Hard House sound to a “straighter” audience in the late 1990s. We’re interested in hearing from any DJs who love their Hard Dance music and want to promote their skills to a bigger audience. DJs and Producers who write their own music are particularly welcome (by WRITE we mean writing original music
