Why a four day week for students the first week of school?
We are recommending a four day week for students the first week because as students transition from summer vacation it is difficult for them to maintain a high level of energy and engagement for their school work for an entire week. This is especially true for our young learners in elementary school. We have had four day weeks for the first week in the past two years and we have received positive input regarding the positive effect of this schedule for students from both teachers and parents. The fifth day is not lost, and is better placed later in the year.
