Why a Diatomaceous Earth filter?
A diatomaceous earth (D.E.) filter is the most efficient filter on the market. Water is filtered through porous, microscopically small, sponge-like particles that are able to remove particles to 4-5 microns as compared to a sand filter that filters to 40-50 microns. Municipal drinking water is filtered to 5 microns. The D.E. filter also has a greater ease of maintenance, as compared to the labor intensive cleaning of cartridge filters.
