Why a community health center? Don’t we have enough medical providers in the area?
Even with the high quality health care options presently available locally, many residents of our community are not getting the effective and holistic primary care they need locally. Many seek care outside the community; sadly, many others simply delay or avoid getting the regular preventative care that they should be getting. For many reasons, this problem has been getting worse over the past five years. And with the number of primary care providers falling nationwide every year, this primary care shortage is likely to worsen still. A community health center can help fill the gap, serving as a safety net provider to those in our midst who are falling through the cracks in the health care system.
