For the internationalization of our web site, we decided to use a collaborative model: the interfaces of the site is internationalized by the international users. This scheme has several advantages. The main advantage is that is shifts the work load to a team of several hundreds of potential translators from the initial developer team (well actually one and a half person!). The other advantage is that also the developer team has some international languages knowledge, we could never master as many languages our users do master.
