Why a 4 months old toy poodle legs have no hair?
Poodle puppy hair is generally much softer and finer than the adult coat. Poodles generally begin to go through a coat change (when the adult hair starts coming in) around a year of age or so. It can take quite a long while for the whole body to get the adult hair. My oldest boy Teddy (who is now 11 1/12) still had fine hair on his hind legs until he was about 3 years old. He now has the wonderful thick and wiry coat that is preferred on poodles. Each poodle is different. Some will have an adult coat that is still soft. My Sonny’s coat was soft but very thick. My Danny’s coat remained very soft and quite thin even though he is now 5 years old. It is, however, curly like an adult coat should be. I now also have an 8 month old female. She still has the soft and wispy puppy hair. As far as the legs go, a poodle should have a square build which means their legs should not be short.
