whose are the first american indian conjoined twins?
Three month old conjoined twins, Preslee and Kylee Wells of Calumet, Oklahoma underwent surgery to sever their connection today. Both girls are being cared for in the Intensive Care Unit at the Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center. The surgery took three hours, as their livers were connected as well as some tissue. Unlike the conjoined twins in England last month who underwent a marathon surgery that resulted in tragedy for both girls, these twins are expected to make a full recovery. This is due to the far more minimal connection between the girls. Preslee and Kylee did not share any major blood vessels, making the procedure a vastly more simple one than the British procedure. While the Oklahoma twins are not out of the woods, their chances of survival are excellent. Sources: http://surgery.about.com/b/2009/01/19/surgery-news-
