Whose a better director – Steven Spielberg, James Cameron or Peter Jackson?
It’s a tough question! They’re all very, very good. James Cameron is certainly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in cinema with Avatar. The photo-realistic motion-capture he wanted hadn’t been invented yet until recently which he developed. James Cameron is certainly a pioneer of cinema. Also Titanic won 11 Oscars and grossed over $1 billion worldwide, which by anyone standards is brilliant and I haven’t even mentioned Terminator 2, Aliens, The Abyss or True lies which are all really good. Peter Jackson and Stephen Spielberg are without doubt as commercially successful and influential as Cameron. Jackson’s Lord of the rings trilogy grossed over $ 4 billion and won countless Oscars. The Lovely bones may not be so revolutionary in terms like Avatar but it did take 3 years to make. Spielberg is also as brilliant which makes this question hard to answer.
