Whos making Barack Obama a political icon?
Whatever your politics, there is no denying that Barack Obama’s got the face that could launch a billion T-shirts and posters. And here’s one man who’s doing a spectacular job to make that happen, a popular artist named Shepard Fairey. Click here to see his poster. There’s some controversy among the marketing crowd on its quality, but I think it’s a powerful image. What do you think? According to a statement on Fairey’s Web site: “I believe with great conviction that Barack Obama should be the next President. I have been paying close attention to him since the Democratic convention in 2004. I feel that he is more a statesman than a politician. He was against the war when it was an unpopular position (and Hillary was for the war at that time), Obama is for energy and environmental conservation. He is for healthcare reform.
