Whos in charge of figuring out what recommendations to follow?
Some of the recommendations require changes in statute, so the Department is drafting bills to be considered by the Legislature this session to make those changes happen. Other recommendations can be implemented without legislation. The Secretary has tasked the Department’s 2006-2007 Executive Leadership Class, under the guidance of Dr. Jim Sewell, to develop draft plans to put the recommendations into action in the most effective way possible. Outside of the Executive Leadership Class, other Department employees, including current District Administrators and key staff with experience in the areas outlined in the recommendations as areas to focus on, are being asked to help with the plan. We anticipate having the proposed plans by mid-May.
