Written by Nadz Over the past few months, we’ve seen a lot of media interest in Bekhsoos, and a continuing media interest in Lebanese homosexuality in general. I’ve worked in the media departments of a few NGOs throughout my career, and I know how difficult it is to get media attention for many worthy social campaigns. However, when it comes to LGBT issues, media outlets just flock to you. Interesting. So, we are faced with two questions: What is with this huge interest in LGBT issues (the more taboo the better)? And how must the LGBT movement deal with this interest to use it to their advantage? To try to answer the first question, I called a reporter from “L’Orient le Jour” who had written an excellent feature on homosexuals in Lebanon from a human rights perspective.
