Who wrote the Star Wars books and what are they based on?

A company approached Lucas Licensing to purchase part of the rights to the characters and places in the Star Wars universe. 2. People within the company decide what they will be producing. (Comic-book series, Novel series, action figures, etc.) 3. As far as books are concerned, the company usually plans out the basic plot of stories it will be producing. 4. The company hires usually well-known authors to write the stories they have planned. 5. A member of Lucas Licensing oversees production of the novels and products to ensure that they fit into the overall continuity of the films and other products already on the market.
