Moses wrote the first 5 books plus the book of Job and several Psalms. Joshua wrote Joshua. Samuel wrote Judges and Ruth and part of 1st Samuel. Gad and Nathan finished 1st Samuel and 2nd Samuel. Jeremiah wrote 1st and 2nd Kings, Lamentations, and Jeremiah. Ezra wrote Ezra and 1st and 2nd Chronicles. Mordecai wrote Esther. The sons of Korah, Asaph, Ethan, Heman, and Solomon each wrote part of Psalms. David wrote the majority of the Psalms. Solomon wrote Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, amd part of Proberbs. Agur and Lemuel wrote the rest of the Proverbs. Nehemiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi each wrote a book with their name as the name of the book. Many authors wrote from available records – examples are Ezra and Jeremiah. Several did receive word for word information, dreams, or visions. Examples are Isaiah, Jeremiah, Moses, and Daniel. The Old Testament was written by many different authors, but it was compiled by Ezra and Nehemiah (so far as we know). Some say they edited the whole of the Old Testament.
